Belarus plans to adopt new Education Code by the end of the year

During this week a new version of the Education Code as well as changes in the admission rules for universities and colleges were addressed by the President. The document is now revised in the Parliament). Alexander Lukashenko has said more than once that a person, the university entrant, should be seen behind any exam. The education system is simply obliged to see him. When making decisions, the principle "to do no harm" and equal opportunities for all are a paramount principle. The President even compared the Education Code to the Constitution. 

Among the changes is individual education according to individual plans and programs, the compulsory general secondary education for all including 11 or 9 grades, plus vocational college. One of the innovations is the national exam. It is proposed to combine centralized tests and graduation exams.

There will be a development of distance learning in universities and colleges. There are plans to adopt the Education Code by the end of the year: the parliamentarians will consider the document in the second reading in the autumn session. But it will not come into force until 2023.
