Celebration of the Day of Belarusian Written Language has started in the capital.

Today, an International Scientific and Educational Expedition starts in the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk. For the 23rd time it will deliver blessed fire to Ancient Polotsk, the capital of the Day of Belarusian Written Language. This year's route runs through the territories of Minsk, Pinsk and Luninets, Grodno, Lida and Smorgon, Polotsk and Vitebsk dioceses.

On September 3 the participants will lay down the Garden of Prayer in Polotsk. During the trip, it is planned to hold meetings with local residents in labor collectives, hospitals and orphanages. It is also planned to consecrate monuments.

Today, the organizers of the holiday have revealed the details of the upcoming Polotsk Forum. It will expand the national framework and become international: 12 diplomatic missions have confirmed their presence. Among the traditional events are exhibitions and stands of domestic publishers and publications, a competition of young readers, round tables of writers and a solemn ceremony of awarding the National Literary Prize. National film studio Belarusfilm will present in Polotsk a film dedicated to Francis Skaryna. By the way, the homeland of our countryman is ancient Polotsk, which will celebrate these days its 1155th anniversary.
