Case of attempted coup d'etat in Belarus: court hears plans to seize power

28 августа 2022
This week, the criminal case against the defendants suspected of an attempted coup d'etat continued to be considered. The stage of the high-profile process, such as the judicial investigation, is completely over. The prosecutor demanded to read some materials, such as the file "October theses", seized from the phone of defendant Yuri Zenkovich. It speaks about the coup d'etat in Belarus, the liquidation of the incumbent President and the adoption of a "small Constitution" (a document that allows repealing the norms of the current main law of the country).

Another plan of development of the situation in Belarus according to the scenario of seizure of power, voiced in court, assumed the dissolution of the electoral structures, as well as the removal from office of all heads of law enforcement agencies. In court, the prosecutor asked Zenkovich about this document and was told that it was most likely prepared by the headquarters of Tikhanovskaya.

We should remind that five people were brought as defendants in this high-profile criminal case: Jury Zienkovich, Alexander Feduta, Grigori Kostusev, Olga Golubovich and Denis Kravchuk. On 30 August, the court is expected to begin deliberations of the parties.
