Belarus’ 100 ruble banknote has been nominated for the 2016 Banknote of the Year Award, as stated on the International Bank Note Society website. One of the main conditions is that the note must have been issued in the current year.
Among other nominated banknotes are Switzerland's 50 franc note, Scotland's 5 pound note, England's 5 pound note, the Maldives’ 1,000 rufiyaa note, New Zealand's 50 dollar note, Australia's 5 dollar note, Georgia's 50 lari note and Sweden's 100 kronor note.
The winner will be announced in April 2017.
Last year’s best banknote was New Zealand's 5 dollar note.
