Belarusian Weather Service to receive more than six million euros for new equipment

Agrarians are listening more and more attentively to the weather forecast, the harvest depends on it too. And today it became known that Belarusian Weather Service will receive more than €6 million for new equipment to make more accurate forecasts. It is planned that by the end of the year Belarusian Weather Service will start making 10-day long-term forecasts, while now the forecast is made only for 7 days.

Nikolai Vasilkov, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus: "If we proceed from world practice, climate change has had a great impact on the entire climate situation in the world, and if we predict our weather conditions accurately, we can reduce the losses."

Amendments to the law "On hydrometeorological activities" is scheduled to be considered at the spring session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly. Also, the Belarusian Weather Service together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations plans to develop a system of color codes of danger of hydrometeorological phenomena to inform citizens.
