А. Lukashenko: The country has developed a good coronavirus control system and it is important to keep it

14 декабря 2020
This was emphasized today by Alexander Lukashenko while he was visiting the 4th City Clinical Hospital in Minsk.

The Head of State went into the red zone and personally inquired whether there was everything to treat the patients. The sudden visit  of the President to the hospital came as a complete surprise for the patients.

The treatment of COVID patients is held under the personal supervision of the President.

The hospital has 888 beds and 70 percent of them are given to COVID patients.  However, the hospital continues to provide all of its services, albeit on a smaller scale.  And this is one of the demands of the Belarusian leader: not to forget about people with other diseases, who also need treatment! The 4th hospital is the leading therapeutic and diagnostic institution, providing care in the field of urology, nephrology, surgery and cardiology. In the first wave of the epidemic the hospital was re-profiled to fight COVID-19.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus: "One must realize that beside COVID patients there are also many others: cardiovascular patients, diabetics, and oncology patients. Therefore you are doing the right thing in helping people with other diseases as well. The most important thing is to keep these beds.  Russian medical experts predict an upsurge of oncology in their country in the next few years: fewer preventive measures have been taken because of the pandemic. "We need to follow this issue closely."

The country is also considering the possibility to produce Russian vaccine and purchase it to vaccinate risk groups.

The hospital in the capital has become the fourth one visited by the head of state during the active fight against the coronavirus. Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko visited Minsk city hospital No 6, Central Stolbtsy Hospital and Vitebsk regional maternity hospital.
