March 1 is the International Day Against Drugs Abuse. This date was proclaimed by the UN by more than 30 years ago to unite the world in fighting the drug menace. More than 20 million people use prohibited substances. And at the same time one drug user, according to statistics, attracts up to ten people in this network. Belarus was able to restrain this geometric progression. The key role, according to experts, was played by the Anti-Drug Decree.
Gennady Kazakevich, Head of the Main Department for Drug Control and Counteracting Trafficking in Human Beings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus:
"Drug control services are focused on the final result. This is the absence of a drug threat for our citizens, that's the most important thing. Those obtained results, which we achieved after changing the legislation, starting from 2014, indicate that we are working well. This is effectively recognized by our neighbors. "
