Congress of Union of Writers of Belarus held in Minsk

The Forum brought together over 600 participants from 10 countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova. President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated participants on the opening of the III Congress of the public association. The writers summed up the work done within the last 5 years and made plans for the future. The focus was on the development of prose and poetry, the quality of children's literature and the establishment of the institute of criticism. Almost 1900 new books were published in the country in the last five years. The Union of Writers of Belarus was established in 2006.
