People's Artist of USSR Alexander Shilov presents exhibition of his works

The exposition of 43 works is presented within the program of Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth. The President of Belarus congratulated Alexander Shilov on opening of the exhibition. VIP-persons, capital beau-monde and just art amateurs came to see known and new-made works of the master at the National Art Museum today.

By Natalia Bordilovskaya: The most part of his works are at the Moscow State Art Gallery named after him and a half of them are brought to Minsk - portraits of war heroes.
Alexander Shilov has been creating his series They fought for the Homeland here for forty years. At the moment the series contains about forty works, but it is not finished yet.

Alexander Shilov, National artist of the USSR: I've dedicated a part of the exhibition, a part of my works to people who were at war. It is not important who they are by profession. They are actors Bondarchuk, Rozov, Evgeny Semenovich Matveev, nameless gunner who lost both legs near Pskov, but didn't lose himself into drinking and raised his son, all kinds of people who gave their health, life for us irrespective of profession.
