Belarusian texts about oldest shrine in center of Europe found in Austria

Documents have been found in the National Library of Austria. They concern practically all the monasteries of Belarus of the 18th century. These are five hand-written books called “materials of general visits to monasteries”.

There documents remind of an auditor's report. A special agent of the highest ecclesiastic went to all the monasteries with an inspection and recorded the course of the check in a special journal. Everything is covered there - from the monastic composition to the description of the buildings of the monastery. These journals were revealed by archivists. Digital copies were made, but only for scientific use.

More than a hundred documents were found only in the Lavrishevsky monastery. This is the most ancient male monastery on the territory of Belarus, and, unfortunately, still little studied.
