He opened Belarusian contemporary dance art to the world - Valentin Yelizariev turns 75

Valentin Yelizariev, the People's Artist of the USSR, Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, celebrates his 75th birthday on October 30. 

A native of Baku, he studied in Leningrad, and in 1973 received an invitation to head the ballet troupe of the Minsk theater, which he could not refuse. Yelizariev opened the Belarusian art of modern dance to the world, created his own authorial language on a classical basis - it is difficult not to recognize Yelizariev's art.

Yelizariev always takes on big symphonic forms such as "Carmensuit", "Creation of the World", "Til Ulenspiegel", "Spartacus", "Passions".

Thanks to his performances, a whole pleiad of artists have been forever inscribed in golden letters in the history of Belarusian art. The whole world applauded the choreographer and his productions. In 1996, Valentin Yelizariev was awarded the Benois de la Danse Award as the best choreographer in the world. 

The master is celebrating his anniversary on the stage. The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus completed its tour in Moscow Saturday with The Nutcracker by Valentin Yelizariev. His performances are still sold out.
