By Darya Tarasova: Established by the UNESCO International Music Council, International Music Day is being marked worldwide today for the 41st time. The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre will celebrate the holiday on a large scale by holding workshops and performing world classics, including Sergei Prokofiev's cantata Alexander Nevsky for mezzo-soprano, chorus and orchestra.
Among this season’s most anticipated performances are the ballet The Little Prince based on the works by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the children's opera Doctor Aibolit and Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth. In total, the 83rd season will feature over 500 performances.
