Boris Popov celebrates anniversary

One of the most famous film engineers of the USSR Boris Popov celebrates his anniversary. The Union of Cinematographers celebrated the 95th anniversary of the maestro at the Museum of the Belarusian Cinema History. The veteran of the Great Patriotic War saw the horrors of the Nazi camps, and experienced the condemnation and distrust of those who returned from captivity. Only many years after, Boris Popov became an influential figure in the world of cinema. He was referred to Minsk upon graduation. He started as a young professional and rose to the post of the chief engineer of the Ministry of Cinematography.

Boris Popov built the first pavilions of Belarusfilm and the legendary cinemas of Belarus himself. He then adjusted them to a wide screen himself, too. For 30 years now, the maestro has been in retirement, but he is also interested in modern technologies of film production, and he writes books and studies the Internet.
