Alexander Lukashenko meets with leadership of China’s CITIC Group

The modern history of relations between the two countries is characterized briefly – it is a comprehensive strategic partnership. This week, the President of Belarus met with the leadership of the Chinese company CITIC Group.

The corporation has 44 subsidiaries in oil, finance, heavy engineering, trade, and other spheres. At the moment, CITIC Group's Belarusian portfolio includes the construction of three cement plants, modernization of the Orsha Flax Factory, the already operating Belgee plant, as well another 9 ongoing projects.

The guests from China visited the construction site in the territory of the industrial park Great Stone in Smolevichi. Next year, the first serial samples of special robotic equipment for work in fires and in hard-to-reach terrain will leave the assembly line of the plant under construction. According to the partners' estimates, up to 70% of the produce will go to European markets.

At the same time, in the village of Kolodishchi near Minsk, the Chinese partners, together with Belarus’ Amkodor, launched the construction of a plant for the production of special equipment. By 2021, Amkodor will become the leading enterprise in the country with a full cycle of manufacturing front and universal forklifts.

In an interview, the head of the Chinese corporation also announced an agreement on expanding cooperation in other areas. In particular, there are plans for a new production for the deep processing of agricultural products and the provision of financial services. Also, the company CITIC Group has become the 34th resident of the industrial park Great Stone.
