President of Belarus met with foreign ministers of Sweden and Finland

1 декабря 2019
Our President met with foreign ministers of Sweden and Finland. Our country is interested in building mutually respectful and good-neighbourly relations with the European Union in general and with the states represented by the guests in particular.

It was a joint initiative of foreign ministers to gather in Minsk. Belarus, Finland, Sweden are neighbors in the region. The meeting was held in the very green room where the historic negotiations of the Normandy quartet took place.

We have a lot in common. There are serious prospects in the energy sector, ecology. Belarus is building a nuclear power plant in Ostravets, while Helsinki is building its own "Hanhikivi-1", and we, in turn, are ready to borrow Finnish experience in ensuring safety.

This meeting may affect the development of relations between Belarus and other Nordic countries. Our President invited the ministers to visit Belarus once again, but together with their colleagues from Norway, Denmark and Iceland.
