Luxembourg becomes outpost of Belarusian business initiative

The Belarusian-European Economic Forum has been held in Luxembourg this week. The event brought together about 200 hundred representatives of European businesses. Belarus was represented by businessmen and the Prime Minister of the country as the head of the delegation. The result of a dialogue between officials, businessmen and experts, was the signing of a whole package of documents.

Also at the forum, Belarus presented its industrial park - The Great Stone. It is the largest IT park in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of services and scientific research. The Great Stone received its 21st resident. Lanz Manufaktur GmbH plans to set up the production of light-emitting diodes and lamps by 2020.

Svetlogorsk pulp and cardboard combine takes away the contract with an exclusive trader. FEZ Grodno-invest signed a protocol of intentions and a memorandum on cooperation in the spheres of investment, industry and IT. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to participate in the reconstruction of the P80 Sloboda-Papernya road. The project of modernization of the heating system of residential buildings in Belarus was supported by a large consortium. This will in the future reduce energy consumption and tariffs. The European Investment Bank is ready to work with us.

The Prime Minister of Belarus held a meeting with Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations. In a narrow format, they talked about the interaction of Belarus with the International Monetary Fund and about the assistance that European institutions could provide in the promotion of the talks.
