Belarusian Violetta Skvortsova won the triple jump event at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Grosseto, Italy. During the awards ceremony, the athlete left the podium because the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina was played instead of that of Belarus.
Realizing the fact the Belarusian delegation can file a protest, the Italian side immediately apologized, proposing to hold the award ceremony again. As a result, Skvortsova received the championship gold to the sound of Belarus’ official anthem.
