Renewable energy sources will have replaced in Belarus up to 120 thousand tons of standard fuel per year by 2035.

The Paris agreement joined by our country is aimed at developing the green economy, avoiding the use of high-carbon fuels. An optimal balance between greenhouse gas emissions and their absorption is needed. Today, the main generator of emissions is the energy sector: 55 percent.

According to Andrei Pilipchuk, Deputy Head of the Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, our potential in the development of renewable energy sources is 1.5 million tons of fuel equivalent. This is about 6% of the reduction of pollutant emissions, if we replace high-carbon fuels such as fuel oil, peat, coal, including those that have a significant impact on human health.

Today renewable energy sources generate 700 million kilowatts per hour. According to the concept of energy security this figure will have grown by almost 4 times before 2035.
