CIS development should be based on economic relations

This has been announced by the Prime Minister of Belarus at today's meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, which is taking place in Ashgabat. As Belarus' chairmanship over the organization is due to expire in about a month, the country has put forward a range of economic initiatives. Thus, Mikhail Myasnikovich has suggested analyzing the free trade zone treaty and counting on the development of the common services market.


A total of 19 issues have been considered at the meeting. The MPs have approved the Concept of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the CIS and supported the development of educational and sporting programs, signing a package of documents.


The next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government will be held in May in Astana, Kazakhstan.
