The Belarusian economy in 2023 worked above the forecast. The GDP grew by 3.9%. The industry traditionally remains the main driver - the production grew by 7.7%. The output of such commodity items as dump trucks, buses, trucks and cars has been maximized over the last 5 years. The construction and trade also show good results. As for the real incomes of the population, they also grew. At the same time, the inflation was below the forecast - at the level of 5.8%.

Andrei Kartun, Deputy Minister of Economy of Belarus:

In our main trading partners, the Russian Federation, inflation amounted to 7.4%, that is, we have less. This was achieved not only due to price regulation measures, but here another important factor is the external environment. The world import prices for foodstuffs have slightly decreased. Yes, it worsened the conditions of our exporters, but in terms of inflation of the domestic market it had a favorable impact.

On the whole, the economic growth of Belarus last year exceeded the world average level, which is estimated at 103%.
