At the big meeting dedicated to industry on April 9, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko put forward an initiative, it is reasonable to return to specific production tasks. Whether it is time to introduce a comprehensive system of state planning in the Belarusian industry was discussed by the guests of the "Economic Environment" project.

Alexander Ogorodnikov, First Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus:

"In our compact Republic of Belarus, we have every opportunity to plan everything very clearly. Taking into account the retirement of equipment at our enterprises (as for machine tools), taking into account the retirement of agricultural machinery, we can plan not for a year, not for two, but for three. We can easily write a production program. The head of the enterprise and his whole team will understand absolutely clearly what they are doing for the Belarusian market. This is planned production and procurement."

First Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Andrei Kartun noted that the system of state planning is already in place: "Target planning has been working in our annual programs for the third year in a row. When the main macroeconomic parameters are approved by the President, we deploy a target plan in the industrial zone (how many tractors, combines, etc.) to reach the target level of industrial production."
