President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has promised to do everything to preserve the village, without which there will be no state. He said this on Christmas Day, visiting the church of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist near Minsk, reports BELTA.

"In this village church I want to say two words about the village. You see that in these difficult times we are doing a lot to preserve the village," the President said.

He emphasized that states that have destroyed the village have no future. "If we lose the village, we will lose the state. It will simply not exist. Therefore, I promise you that as a person who grew up in the village, knowing the life of a rural person, the complexities and difficulties, I will do everything to preserve our village. To make the village, the breadwinner of our people, the foundation of our state, strong, powerful and prosperous," Alexander Lukashenko assured.

"This does not mean that we will forget the cities - it is industry. The same village cannot also develop without it. We will do everything to develop our economy. We have everything for this, despite the difficult times," emphasized the Belarusian leader.
