Many years ago Belarus heavily invested in the development of agriculture. Now we fully provide ourselves with food and earn from its export more than 4 billion a year. At the same time, agricultural areas are constantly expanding and new breeds of crops are being created.

Economically advantageous yield is in the range from 40 to 60 centners of grain per hectare. Today, we are striving for an average of 45.
Seeds of local selection occupy 80% of the soil in Belarus. The main thing is resistance to climate change, rain and wind. Breeders are constantly fighting crop diseases and pests. But given the mutation of the latter, the breeds are updated every three years.
The economy of the harvest-2017 is calculated not only in the field, but also in research institutes. The main thing is the conjuncture of grain prices in world markets.
Traditionally, the five major grain exporters in the world are the USA, Canada, Australia, Argentina and the European Union. They account for more than 85 percent of the total trade. The main buyers are Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, China and Japan.
Belarus fully provides itself with grain. At the same time it exports cereals and rye flour. Moreover, we export frozen bread. Among buyers are Russia (more than 80% of exports), Israel, Panama, USA, Tajikistan.
