By Olga Kholodovich: This season, Belarus has enjoyed a good harvest of vegetables. But apart fr om growing and collecting, it is necessary to sell the produce at competitive prices, too.

Despite the fact that there is demand for Belarusian products, the opportunities to sell them are not always used in full. The issue was discussed today by the heads of ministries, agricultural and processing organizations and farms in Gomel Region.

Mikhail Rusy, the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus: "We need to create wholesale centers so that we can buy, process and sell our ptoducts. The system should be worked out clearly. Manufacturer should know their buyers, and vice versa, customers should know what produce is available and wh ere. Everything should be organized on a competitive basis."

But it is not always possible to compete with imported products. The price of domestic goods is higher than that of imported. Experts are confident that the long-term agreements signed between producers of goods and trade organizations can change the situation with the supply of Belarusian vegetables to stores. The documents will specify not only the obligations of both parties, but also their responsibilities in case of their failure.
