Belarus engages in big dialogue on future of agricultural sector

Today we earn about $ 5 billion from exporting food products. We export foods to 70 countries: for example, Belarusian milk can be found on the counters from Venezuela to Singapore. But with the tough global competition that exists today, certainly one should not relax. Especially, when there are many problems, from the need for financial recovery of agricultural enterprises, and increasing salaries in the industry to a deficit of intelligent, literate staff in the country.

While addressing the agrarians at the seminar-meeting, the President stressed: it's time to get used to the fact that rural production is business, not a social project

It is to the problematic points that the head of state pointed during the conversation about the future of the agro-industrial complex.

It is no accident that the Head of State raises the production theme. After all, technology is important for every area: be it livestock or crop production. The President recalls that each region should have its own structure of crops.

Efficient economy is the main task and is still a big problem for the agro-industrial complex. The state annually sends huge amounts of money to this industry. Two years ago, the President set the task to district leaders to take trouble enterprises under control.

Yet, the pace is not encouraging. The government will continue to work in this direction. Points of growth are the competent use of not only natural, material, financial, but also labor resources.

It's time to raise the village and life in the periphery to a new level. The heads of farms and district executive committees are expected not only to take a responsible approach to business, but also to be more independent in decision-making.
