Foreign Ministers of Belarus and Uzbekistan discuss issues of trade and economic cooperation

Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik and Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks in Tashkent on February 6, BelTA reports.

They discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda. Particular attention was paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation and building up the volume of mutual trade, strengthening food security and developing industrial cooperation projects.

The interlocutors expressed confidence that the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan, which will be held in Tashkent on February 7, will make an important contribution to strengthening economic ties and establishing direct interaction between the regions of the two countries. The forum will be attended by more than 150 representatives of the regions of Belarus and the business community.

The ministers noted the high level of interaction in education, healthcare, culture, sports and tourism. They exchanged views on the situation in the world arena, as well as in the Eurasian region.

The Foreign Ministers dwelt in detail on the interaction in the UN, CIS and SCO. The parties noted the similarity of approaches to building a dialog on international platforms and reaffirmed their mutual desire for a fairer world order.
