By Vladimir Semkin: This year, more than 34,000 tons of potato have been collected in the Bobruisk district. The agricultural production co-operative Giant produces the lion's share of potatoes in the district. There are only two potato warehouses of this kind in Belarus - one is located here and the other is in the Gomel region. 20 tons of potatoes are stored in 14 chambers with individual climate control run by a computer.
Potato generates about 40 percent of the Giant's total profit. Next year, it is planned to increase potato acreage ??as well as to build and reconstruct 4 potato warehouses.
