President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko enumerated the tasks for food security in the EAEU in his speech at the II Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow, BelTA informs.
"The Eurasian region has unique opportunities for increasing production and export of food. We manage to maintain free circulation of products and avoid restrictions on mutual supplies of socially important goods. The level of self-sufficiency of the majority of products today (for the union) is 80-95%. For grain it is 132%, for oilseeds 151%. The surplus is readily bought on the world markets. "The demand for food is enormous. And it is growing," said the head of state.
At the same time a number of problems need to be solved in this area. It is necessary to define a list of critical imports for the food market of the EAEU member-states due to the capabilities of our own existing productions, their expansion and creation of new ones.
Another task is to ensure the convergence of state support for agriculture and the legal basis for its provision, taking into account the national interests of the participating countries.
Alexander Lukashenko also called for the rapid digitalization of manufacture processes in crop and livestock production.
