Lukashenko approves amendments to intergovernmental agreement on parallel operation of energy systems of Belarus and Russia

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has approved the draft protocol on amendments and additions to the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Russia on some measures to ensure parallel operation of the unified energy system of Belarus and the Unified Energy System of Russia of March 15, 2011. The corresponding decree № 327 was signed by the President on October 19, reports BelTA with reference to the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The draft protocol enshrines the parties' obligations to ensure the balance of active capacity in case of shutdown of the Belarusian NPP unit. The names of Russian legal entities involved in ensuring parallel operation of energy systems are updated.

The implementation of the document will make it possible to improve energy security and reliability of power systems operation.

The draft protocol was approved as a basis for negotiations. The government is authorized to conduct them and sign the document if an agreement is reached within the approved draft.
