Belarus and Russia sign one-year roadmap to lift restrictions on animal products supply

15 марта 2018

Belarus and Russia signed a roadmap on the procedure for lifting restrictions on the supply of Belarusian products for 2018. The two countries agreed to observe the balances of supply and demand for meat and milk through a monitoring system.

Also in the near future, experts from Russia will come to Belarus to inspect the enterprises they believe to be of questionable security. Lately, Rosselkhoznadzor – the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in Russia – has suspended on-and-off the imports of meat and milk products from Belarus in view of claims related to violations of veterinary and sanitary requirements. But after additional research, the restrictions were then lifted.

The situation in the food market is now in the focus of the Eurasian Economic Commission as well. According to the head of the Collegium of the Eurasian Economic Commission, a fundamental solution to supply problems is to harmonize the legislation and coordinate all the work, primarily that of supervisors.

This week, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan talked to The Main Air about issues of the relations within the Eurasian Economic Union, the single market of medicines, transport, and the creation of a unified energy system. The programme airs on 18 March, Sunday.
