Belarus and Lithuania discuss oil and gas supplies

Lithuania proposes that Belarus made intensive use of its infrastructure to establish regular oil supplies. This was voiced during the talks between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Lithuania Vladimir Makei and Linas Linkevičius in Minsk.

Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania: "We are ready to continue the practice of oil supply, alternative supplies. Pilot projects have already taken place, but we can also discuss the ongoing process. We have to consider technical solutions, opportunities and alternative gas supplies".

According to the Foreign Minister, the working visit of his Lithuanian counterpart will be the beginning of a new period in bilateral relations. Vilnius is ready to provide expert assistance for Belarus' accession to the World Trade Organization. The issue of the Belarusian NPP construction was also discussed. 

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: "Yes, we understand the concerns in Lithuanian society, but I would like to draw attention to the fact that we are absolutely transparent in our cooperation with the IAEA, the EU. We voluntarily conducted stress tests together with the European Commission".

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister thanked the Belarusian side for the readiness to receive European experts, who will be able to make sure of the complete safety of the nuclear power plant.
