Record batch of diamonds detained

A record lot of diamonds was detained by the Belarusian customs officers at the checkpoint Berestovitsa. More than 9 kilograms of precious stones under the guise of aquarium gravel was being smuggled into the territory of Belarus by a Russian citizen.

Despite the explanations of the driver that the crystals are gravel for aquarium, the customs officer questioned him, the stones were seized and sent for examination. According to the experts of the customs laboratories, the submitted stones are uncut diamonds. Their value according to preliminary estimates amounts to more than 900 thousand rubles. 

The stones were confiscated and the driver was fined.
