Belteleradiocompany received 118 applications from performers and song writers for participation in the National TV Music project "Eurofest", which is the first step within the International Television Eurovision Song Contest 2009 ".
101 applications were filed by the performers, the rest came from the song writers. Executive producer of the Music and Entertainment Division Belteleradiocompany programs Anastasia Tikhanovich noted that there are a lot of famous names among this year participants unlike previous years. Among the presented songs, mostly written in Belarusian and Russian languages, there is a song, written in Spanish.
The participants will take part in live auditions in the beginning of December. Not more than 15 performers will be chosen by the jury for the participation in the semi-final of the "Eurofest" project.
The semi-final is to take place in December, 2008 in a form of a gala-concert, transmitted on the First Channel and Belarus-TV channel. Not more than five finalists will be selected.
It will be up to the finalists either to choose a different composition for the final or not.
The final will be held in January, 2009. Television audience will define the winner of the "Euro Fest" project, who will consequently be an Official Representative of the Republic of Belarus within an International contest Eurovision-2009 with the help of the phone poll.
The rule of selection of the Belarusian representative of the Eurovision contest-2009 is exposed in the Regulations about the National Musical project "Eurovision-2009", placed on the official website of Belarus: www.tvr.by. The National State TV Company sponsors of the "Eurofest" project.
