There has already been an incident with NATO explosive devices on Nord Stream in 2015, when an underwater mine destroyer was found, which, according to NATO, "got lost in the exercise," said Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov.
"Today it is necessary to recall the events at the Nord Stream pipeline, which have already been recorded earlier," he said on the air of the TV channel "Russia-24." According to Kupriyanov, during a routine visual inspection of Nord Stream - 1 on November 6, 2015, an underwater NATO mine destroyer Sea Fox was found. The Gazprom official specified that the device was lying in the space between the gas pipelines."
According to Kupriyanov, NATO said the underwater vehicle "got lost in the exercise." "That's the kind of NATO exercise where a real explosive device ends up exactly under our gas pipeline," he added.
The explosive device was then defused by the Swedish Armed Forces, and gas transportation, stopped due to the emergency, was resumed, a Gazprom spokesman said.
