The war that began on September 1, 1939, cost 70 million lives

A sad history lesson that, unfortunately, not everyone has learned. On September 1, 1939,  Nazi Germany began the World War II  with the attack on Poland. And it is worth remembering that Poland sought an armed conflict with Germany no less than its adversary. The country's leadership expected that the entire burden of hostilities would fall on the guarantors of Warsaw's security - Great Britain and France - and that the Poles would have no choice but to march victoriously into Berlin. In practice, the security guarantors, although they declared war, did not take any active measures, watching indifferently as Poland was defeated. The Polish army was defeated in 10 days. The world was submerged for 7 years in a global conflict which cost 70 million human lives.
