Hungarian theaters closing down

The energy crisis continues to hit all spheres of life in Europe. The arts are not spared. Theaters are closing in Hungary. In November, the 111-year-old opera house in Budapest will stop working. The utility bills increased by a factor of 8-10. Paying for heating of the hall with 1800 seats proved to be unaffordable. The authorities suggested that the cultural institutions should be temporarily closed for the winter. But there are fears that not all of them will be able to reopen after such a downtime. High inflation, a weakened currency and energy costs entail heavy financial losses.
