Children killed in Kazakhstan riots

9 января 2022
The situation in Kazakhstan is gradually improving. The work of public utilities and life support systems is being restored.  The Internet connection has been restored. Some shooting is still going on in Almaty. The Republic Square is still closed. There are increased police patrols on the streets. All cars are being checked thoroughly.  Public transportation is back in service in Kyzylorda and Aktau, small stores and some gas stations have opened. Meanwhile, the counter-terrorist operation continues.

There is increasing evidence that professional militants, including radical Islamists, led the crowds during the bloody events.  The protesters demonstrated professional skills.  They used radios to co-ordinate their actions, the Kazakh MIA said.

As a result of the unrest, children were killed. Today it became known about one more incident. On January 7, a four-year-old girl was shot dead in the car. Her older sister was also wounded by a bullet. She is in intensive care. Earlier, the death of a 15-year-old boy caught in the shooting was reported. Three other children were wounded. Armed criminals opened fire on the city streets, crashed shopping malls, financial institutions and opened ATMs. Radicals beat law enforcers, taking their uniforms and equipment. A total of 16 security agencies were killed in the fighting and 1,300 more were injured. Monday is declared a day of mourning for the dead in Kazakhstan.
