The country is mourning the victims of property riots. Alexander Lukashenko sent condolences to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the families and friends of the victims. The Belarusian people are appalled by the dramatic events in fraternal Kazakhstan. The organized attack of gangster formations, which caused numerous victims and destructions, once again showed us all the terrible threat that international terrorism brings to the world. The subversive purpose of extremists is obvious - to destabilize multinational Kazakhstan, to foment chaos, to unleash fratricidal war in the country for committing unconstitutional seizure of power and change of political course. Belarus has already faced such a challenge, says the message of condolence, and therefore understands the urgency of the situation and the enormous responsibility for the fate of the country, resting on the shoulders of its leaders. Belarus hopes for quick establishment of peace and tranquility on the Kazakh land, and is ready to help in any way possible to stabilize the situation. Alexander Lukashenko also wished speedy recovery to the injured.
State flags are at half-mast over all government institutions and the President's residence. According to more accurate data, 16 law enforcement officers were killed and 400 injured during the riots in the country. The number of victims among the insurgents is counted in dozens. Around 6 thousand rioters were detained. The country suffered material damage of at least $200 million. Meanwhile, the situation in Kazakhstan is gradually normalizing. The authorities succeeded in taking under complete control the former capital Almaty: two extremist cells whose members took part in mass disorders and bands of marauders were neutralized; the criminogenic situation got back to normalcy. The Internet was restored. The country's Foreign Ministry announced that the deployment of CSTO peacekeepers allowed Kazakhstan to successfully defend itself against hybrid aggression. The stay of the foreign military will last until the full normalization of the situation, i.e., not less than a week. A state of emergency is still in effect in the country, and a counter-terrorist operation continues in Almaty.
