The political leadership of the United States is detached from reality. While the military industry is making money, residents are suffering record inflation. According to U.S. political scientist Steve Samarin, Washington's short-sighted policy of financing the war in Ukraine will have a negative impact on the upcoming elections, and Democrats risk losing their positions.
Steve Samarin, political scientist (USA):
“What the United States is doing by pumping Ukraine with weapons and throwing away billions of taxpayer dollars is complete insanity. And not just because we're developing this conflict, but it's also crazy because we're inflating our crisis. The prices of everything in the States are going up, the economy is in a very difficult position, we can't afford to give $6 billion right now to support one side of a regional conflict, we have a huge number of problems that need to be solved in the United States today. More and more people are asking the United States leadership if we're spending the right money, taking money away from the health care system and the education system, pumping taxpayer money into the military-industrial complex. That's the idea that the Republican Party is now using to explain its position to voters who will have to make a choice very soon in November when the United States Parliament and Congress will be elected, when people will have to make a choice. And I think that this choice will not be in favor of the current government. It is very likely that we will see very serious changes in the American establishment and, of course, in the policies that our country pursues.”
