Someone has been consistently mining flights from Belgrade to Moscow over the past few weeks. At least, such reports were received by the Serbian intelligence agencies. When checked, no explosive devices were found on board the planes. The situation might seem routine. But details can make all the difference.
EU extremely concerned about Serbia-Russia relations
Serbia's warm relations with Russia have long been a cause for notorious concern of the European Union. Since the start of the Russian military special operation, the pressure on Belgrade has escalated. The national air carrier was forced to curb the number of flights to Moscow. But that wasn't enough. The country's authorities suspect foreign secret services of a number of information attacks.
"I’m sick to the back teeth of these planes. What are we going to do, if we have to return the plane from Subotica to Belgrade every time. False signals about explosive devices are sent by foreign intelligence agencies."
Such tactics are explained by Serbia's principled position on the issue of joining the Western blocs, believes President Aleksandar Vucic. The country has been accused many times of almost being "sponsored by the Kremlin". But the West keeps silent with regard to Ankara, which sends 30 times more flights to Moscow than Belgrade, or Saudi Arabia, the world's major oil supplier, which also cooperates with Russia. Attacking Serbia is more convenient and safer in geopolitical terms. The exact type of the attack makes no difference. What is important is that they should be targeted against the ideological enemy. After all, the true European "good" can’t be done without using fists. This is increasingly evident from the statements of the EU's top leadership.
Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy: "In order to keep peace, we need force."
Roman Gusarov, aviation expert, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal:
And as we can see, this investigation was slack. The preliminary data showed that no direct evidence of violations or phone or telegram messages confirming any initiatives on the part of the Belarusian authorities in that mining case could be found.
At the same time, it is impossible to find fault with the actions of the aviation authorities for any violations in the plane landing. It turned out that no one was forcing it to land. There was information that a fighter jet almost threatened, but it did not come closer than 70 km, and only took off and landed at a great distance from the civilian aircraft. No one threatened it with missiles. The inspection on the ground proceeded smoothly, almost no discrepancies were found, except for a couple of small technological points. But no one identified serious violations anywhere.
After this preliminary report, everything went quiet again and it has been forgotten now. Where is this investigation? Why isn't it authenticated? Why aren't all the charges and sanctions against Belavia dropped based on this investigation? And in general, what does Belavia have to do with this? There are a lot of questions. We are well aware at this point that, unfortunately, the old rules we have become accustomed to are no longer in effect. No sanctions have been lifted from Belavia, but that is what the customers of the air blockade need. After all, the war, whether hot, economic, or informational, is only a tool of cynical geopolitics casting the people’s interests far aside.
