The air defense system repelled a missile attack by Ukrainian troops on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant in the Kherson Region, RIA Novosti reported, citing information from Vladimir Leontyev, head of the Kakhovka District Administration.
"They shelled the area of the hydroelectric power plant. The targets were shot down. The air defense system successfully performed," Leontiev said.
Kakhovskaya HPP is the sixth stage of the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant cascade. It is located near the town of Novaya Kakhovka. It supplies water to arid districts of the region and water through the North Crimean Canal to Crimea.
