Sweden and Finland risk being left without NATO membership

The first disagreement arose between the participants of the NATO summit, which ended the day before: Turkey is not happy that the Finns and Swedes deceived it. Stockholm and Helsinki secured Ankara's acceptance into the alliance in exchange for a commitment to extradite some Kurdish activists. And now the agreement has been obtained, while the procedural games with the extradition began. But President Erdoğan has warned: all 73 persons must be extradited, and references to court decisions, citizenship and political asylum will not be taken into account by Turkey. If we are deceived, Erdogan said, the accession protocol will never reach our parliament and Stockholm and Helsinki will not be accepted into NATO. Meanwhile, the extradition of the Kurds threatens both Northern European countries with a serious political crisis.
