The Sejm of Poland approved the state of emergency on the border with Belarus. The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers was supported by the majority of the deputies. It will operate for 30 days on a 3-kilometer wide strip: 115 settlements are located in this zone. The police will keep them under increased control: all mass events will be banned there, local residents and those who come to work will be constantly checked for the right to be in the zone of the regime. At the same time, the Afghan refugees stranded at the border need real help: they sit in tents without normal food and medical assistance for the fourth week.
The European Union is more and more dissatisfied with the defiant behavior of Warsaw. The European Commission has filed a lawsuit demanding to impose fines on Poland for violating the rights of judges. The amount of daily penalties that Warsaw will have to pay will be determined by the court. The EU has already deprived Poland of financial assistance for economic recovery after the Covid pandemic. And this is 57 billion euros.
