President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sent a message of greetings to the participants of the celebrations on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the famous Belarusian writer, teacher and scholar, People's Poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas. This is reported by BelTA with reference to the press service of the President.
"The genius of his poetic talent has revealed at the turn of the era, when in the early twentieth century there was a search for the national identity and ways of further development of our people," reads the congratulatory message. - The masterpieces of the classicist revealed the subtlest aspects of the Belarusian soul, elevated the Belarusian word to the acme of art, became an appeal and a testament to his fellow countrymen about the sacred duty of selfless service to the Homeland."
The President underscored that the words of Kolas about a sincere love for the native land, the need to protect one's parents, to remember one's history and roots are still impressively relevant today and serve as a spiritual foundation of the modern society.
Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the gala event will give the lovers of literature bright and unforgettable emotions, while the appeal to the inexhaustible heritage of the poet will inspire to new creative discoveries, promote the artistic understanding of the history and culture and teach the younger generation traditional values of the Belarusians.
