Russia considers the British refusal to hold a meeting of the UN Security Council on the provocation in Bucha unprecedented in the UN history. This was stated by the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN at a press conference in New York. Vassily Nebenzia stressed that Western delegations preferred to combine the discussion on the situation in Bucha with the general discussion on humanitarian issues at the UN Security Council on Tuesday in order to divert attention from the staged provocation.
Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's permanent representative to the UN: "What happened yesterday and today is unprecedented, unbelievable, unimaginable - that we were denied the UN Security Council meeting that we requested. The reason Western delegations do this is simple. It is not convenient for Western organizers to hold a Security Council meeting called by Russia because it would shake up the anti-Russian story they are actively promoting."
After accusations of Moscow's involvement in the killing of civilians in the town of Bucha, the Russian side twice requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council. However, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the British presidency this month refused both times.
