Russian Ministry of Defense: Military infrastructure of Ukrainian air bases disabled, air defense facilities suppressed
The air defense facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been suppressed, the military infrastructure of air bases has been brought out of operation, and Ukrainian border guards offer no resistance to the Russian military. This was reported to journalists by the Russian Defense Ministry, BelTA reported citing TASS.
"Ukrainian border guards do not offer any resistance to the Russian units. The anti-aircraft capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is suppressed. The military infrastructure of the air bases of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been brought out of action," the military department said.
Information from foreign media about the hit Russian plane over Ukraine does not correspond to reality, the Defense Ministry said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a TV address this morning that he had decided to hold a special military operation in response to an appeal for help by the leaders of the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
