Belarusian Foreign Ministry on Lithuania's "sanctions law": act of hostility and aggression

20 декабря 2021

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country issued a harsh statement about the attempts of the Lithuanian authorities to stop the transit of Belarusian goods by a special law. Any attempts to make the sanctions look civilized and legal are futile. In fact, we are talking about the blockade, as flights to our country have been stopped, land transport is limited and they are trying to stop the railway service.

Statement of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry

The key thing is that in this muddy water under the disguise of solidarity some actors are trying to push through the parliament the decisions that represent the pinnacle of irresponsibility and cynicism. This initiative itself is a flagrant violation of international law, not to mention Lithuania's multilateral and bilateral obligations. This is all do with respect to a landlocked state. What is it if not an act of hostility and aggression?

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry reminds that the trade turnover between our two countries is a billion dollars. Any anti-Belarusian sanctions threaten Lithuanian companies with significant losses. Vilnius risks gaining a reputation of an extremely unreliable economic and political partner.
