Italy wants to open ruble accounts in Gazprombank to pay for Russian gas

The gas issue continues to develop. Another country is going to accept Russia's payment terms. Thus, the Italian energy giant Eni wants to open ruble accounts in Gazprombank, reported  Bloomberg agency. By the way, the Italians themselves support such a decision, noting that Russian gas supplies are important for Italy.

Italians:

I think Russian gas is important. In recent weeks there has been a decrease in gas supplies. And we have already seen price increases and the current crisis. Prices, bills, the cost of gas have gone up.

Can Europe refuse Russian gas? It threatens Russia by wanting to give up its oil and gas. But I really think that in the end Europe will not be able to do this: it simply does not have the potential to progress further without these resources.

The President of Moldova stated that there is no alternative to Russian gas

Moldova also depends on energy supplies from Russia. The President said there was no alternative to Russian gas, as the purchase of fuel on the market would be many times more expensive.

Maia Sandu, President of Moldova:

We cannot give up gas when there is no alternative. Besides, the electricity also depends on gas, there is no alternative here too, because we are not connected to Romania in practice.

Sandu said Moldova has technical ways to carry out alternative supplies, but this will require finding a supplier agreeing to a medium-term contract.
