The UN General Assembly has adopted an anti-Russian resolution not recognizing referendums in the LNR, DNR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
The Western countries prepared in advance a resolution that does not recognize the referendums and calls on all countries, international organizations and specialized UN structures not to recognize the change of status of "Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine." The text also calls not to recognize the annexation of the four regions to the Russian Federation. In addition, Moscow is urged to immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine. The document expresses "commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders." Moscow is condemned for "organizing referendums" and allegedly "attempting to annex" the DNR, LNR and two regions.
143 countries voted for the resolution, 5 countries voted against it, and 35 countries abstained. The Russian Federation, Belarus, Syria, the DPRK, and Nicaragua voted against the resolution.
