ECHR: Refugees from Poland cannot be deported back to Belarus

7 декабря 2021

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that refugees cannot be deported from Poland back to Belarus, if they are already in its territory. In total, from August 20 to December 3, the ECHR considered 47 requests for interim measures at the Polish-Belarusian border. 44 requests were against Poland, while the rest were filed against Lithuania and Latvia. In many cases, the court also called on the governments to provide the applicants with food, clothing and medical care, and if possible, to provide them with temporary asylum.
